Little practical advice
Mandatory readingIs someone lying to, or about you, undermining you, or taking credit for your efforts, all to improve their perceived lot in the company? Is this person taking away your desire to do your best or go the extra mile?
If you can answer yes to _any_ of these questions you owe it to yourself to read this book. It doesn't offer much in the way to get around the situation, but knowing what your up against can help you pick a course before you become roadkill.
Managers -- do your employees a favor and read this book!Lange and Domke's book addresses the problem of how to recognize a Cain. This characterization is important to us Able's, but the downside is that this book can be used as a guide for Cain's-in-training (alas, "it is a poor sword that does not cut both ways"). Sadly, the usefulness of this book to Able's is directly proportional to how useful it is to Cain's-in-training at becoming better Cain's.
The only thing I don't like is that in a lot of the examples, the Able's are forced to leave the company by the Cain's. Because of these examples, I can see the necessity of recommending that Able's 1) "don't corner a Cain" 2) avoid interacting with a Cain (the authors don't say this specifically, but it comes across in the examples and the remedies). I would have preferred more direct methods for dealing with a Cain instead of hoping that all managers read this book and additionally hoping that it is not to the manager's benefit to keep a Cain around. The authors take the high road in dealing with Cain's. I suppose direct methods would involve becoming Cain-like myself and I'd rather eat glass shards than become a Cain. Maybe somebody can come out with a book describing how Able's can triumph over Cain's instead of merely existing in their shadows.
Regardless, this is an excellent book. And when it comes out in paperback, I plan on buying a half dozen copies and giving them to every manager I know.

Not the same quality as other WROX publicationsAs a somewhat seasoned developer using both Visual Studio and GoLive on our Corporate Intranet, I only needed to acquire familiarity with the features within Dreamweaver for my own personal use.
I enjoyed the overview and first few chapters in this book, and soon began to appreciate the potential this book might have. At the end of chapter two, I compared my project with the illustration in the book. They didn't look the same. I was determined to find out why, so I compared my code with the downloaded code. They were different. I rechecked the steps in the book looking for the missed steps, but didn't see it.
If you want to learn Dreamweaver MX, and don't mind checking your code with the downloaded code, then this book might work for you. For me, I'll look elsewhere.
Excellent!! Only if you are serious about learning
Awesome bookIf you are serious about web design, and have found FrontPage to bee too limiting, this is the book to get you going!

Help! I'm Trapped in Obedience School!I thought it was a very funny and amusing story. You can look for the other Help! I'm trapped in...whatever series if you like it,too!
You wanna know? here's the place to go!By Carson
I read, help! I'm trapped in obedience school. It's written by Todd strasser, and the genre is fiction. He also wrote all the other, help I'm trapped in' books (he wrote the whole series). The plot is that, a boy named Andy, switches bodies with Jake's dog, lance (Jake is the main character), and the things they go through at home, school and on the streets.
Andy is gross because he shoots spitballs through his nose. He's stubborn because he doesn't want to turn back into a human because as a dog he gets to be lazy and not wash.
This book is funny because Jake keeps trying to talk to Andy. This makes every one stare at him (they don't know that Andy is in lance) that happens on page 48, in obedience school.
Jake and Josh some times walk over to Andy's house, I walk over to my friend's houses all the time. Jake has a pet and so do i. Jake has a dog, I have reptiles.
Jake is a good kid (he's not a troublemaker) because he doesn't give people answers in school, and he doesn't like it when his friends make fun of his sister. He's persistent because he keeps trying to get Andy into his own body even after Andy doesn't want to, and he's been made fool of, he even makes up excuses to get Andy into his old body.
Then as soon as Jessica (Jake's older sister) says "its time to get groomed" then suddenly Andy doesn't want to be a dog any more. After that they sneak into Dirksons (dirkson is the science professor) garage so they could use the d.i.t.s. To switch Andy back to'well Andy. There's only one problem' well you have to find out for your self.
Can you guess what happened?
The best dog book ever! January 22,2003

Lite done Right!
I'm just glad that this book exists!
wow

'Closet' helpd me out of mineThe story is engaing, quickly paced and full of suspence as well as the intcracies of coming out in very public and private ways. I'll always remember the secret meeting that opens the novel as one of the most suspensful things I've read (probaly due to it's gay context and my state of mind at the time). Zimmerman keeps the mystery itslef engaging and quite difficult to solve. Although I was focused on other aspects of the story :) I was kept gussing who the murderer could be until the very end.
If you're a fan of the series, you have to read this to see how it all started and if not, well this is a perfect time to get hooked. I give it 4 four stars because my state of mind when first reading it has clouded my critical eye a bit. But no matter, you are in store for a treat, in so many respects.
Good Intro to a Great SeriesTodd Mills is at the pinnacle of his career; he is in negotiations for a major promotion at Channel 7 News. The only problem is the stress in his relationship with his 4-year lover, Michael. You see, Todd is not "out," and has always done his best to keep his professional and private lives as separate as he can. Michael, however, gave him an ultimatum: me or the closet. After a lively fight, and a short time to think about his priorities, Todd decides to choose Michael. But he's too late . . . Michael has been killed. Todd is implicated in the murder, outed to the world, and forced to deal with many thoughts and feelings he's never had before.
In my opinion, Zimmerman's keeping the killer's identity hidden until the last few pages is wonderful. Even though I know that all the leads, twists and hints in the novel are meant to mislead me, I always fall for them, and am quite suprised at the end. The key to these books is to suspect everyone and no one. Just as interesting is the struggle Todd faces with being blasted out of the closet all at once. Years of fearing that people will shun and hate him for who he is, the impact on his career, and not fitting into the gay community come to the surface. Not all the questions and issues are answered, but I believe Zimmerman was true to the struggle being faced, and how people learn to lean on their friends and family to help them through it. This is a wonderful book from a wonderful series. Read them one and all.
Compelling from the start...

The gospel when it first hit press; outdated nowI would not recommend this book to a newcomer, nor to a seasoned triathlete anymore, but a few years ago I might have...
Great for beginnersInstead of relying on distance, its programs focus on time and percentage. Since biking encompasses usually 50% of the race, training should focus 50% on biking (unless you're very weak in one of the other legs).
It offers sample worksheets to set up your own program, based on the type of triathlon-sprint to Ironman.
it works

needs perspective
in lieu of history, a personal view of the 60sAs a liberal, Gitlin's views are clear. While I am more conservative than he, I empathise with where he was coming from. For me, as a high school student, the 60s were the ideal carnival: why not ditch school to protest war? I feared being drafted, escaped it by a nose when the war ended, and wanted to relive this from a different pint of view. It wasn't available in this book.
Recommended, but not great.
Brilliant Account of 60's Student Movement

Disappointed!I could not efford to buy another book about routing so I switched to the switching exam. And I wasted 2-3 weeks with that book too!! At first, that book seems to be satisfactory but if you read the exam topics on cisco web site, you will see that some of them are not even mentioned in that book.
Today, I am going to start reading a cisco press book for that switching exam. I suggest you do the same and save money!
Great book for CCNP-- Pankaj Patel BSCS, CCNA, MCDBA.

A good book crippled by bad editing.
Good book - watch the errors
Informative, but has several errors in technical content.

This guy's a real flakeBut the remainder of the book is a random walk through what the author terms "holistic" approaches. These include such topics as having too much yeast in your diet, getting psychotherapy, having a stronger sense of humor, celebrating a day of Sabbath, and so forth. Some of these might be good suggestions for various individuals, but if you want to learn about these things, get some other book. The book doesn't relate these things to sinus problems in any case.
I'm off the antibiotic merry-go-round!
Better than surgeryp.s. I did find a positive "I AM" getting better attitude helps.
